Acrylic Mixed Media

It is okay to grieve. It’s actually a necessary process (I can tell from my personal experience.) And when tears dry, new world awaits you! You have choices to make…how you take it, what to do next…etc. There may be more than one paths. You have a power to choose. Something greater than us, God, is with you. My prayers for your process, decision-making, well-being, and blessings are in this artwork.

This painting was also inspired by the climate-change-related chart below. There are different scenarios in our future. It will depend on what we do now.

More floods, Hurricanes, extreme heat caused by Climate change sometimes strip some loved one from our life. We face grief and loss due to the natural disasters and other events. This painting abstractly shows the graph of the data, also depict our tears. But the time of when tears dry will come. I encourage you to intentionally wait for the time when tears dry. With hope. And it will. This shall too pass. And then what would you do? What is your vision? What is our vision? What is temporary is probably not important. What is the eternal seems much more important.

This work, I titled “When Hope Arises” is a sequence after “When Tears Dry.” (the image left) It’s time to wake up, time to feel hopeful, and time to rise higher.

We would face something that makes us cry…. including a possible loss of loved ones in our life time. But, I would like to invite you to put you in the broader perspective. The rising rainbow stands for hope. You can see the ruler scale/graduations in the painting.

The shape of the painting is inspired by the fact chart published by IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). It’s about climate change and global warming. It could cause natural disasters and people’s death. According to their report, “Human-induced warming reached approximately 1°C above pre-industrial levels in 2017. At the present rate, global temperatures would reach 1.5°C around 2040.”

When hope arises, things will look brighter and our feeling will be lighter. Hope always gives us hope! But where the hope come from? and where should we put our hope in? I know my case. What is your case?

“Rest in Here” —Job 38:4, 5 —Psalm 147:3-4, Acrylic mixed media on Canvas, 18x21x1 inch, 2020-2021

Turmoil, chaos, hardships occur in life. But, you could rest assured. This work is titled “Rest in Here.” Rest your weary wings here. I construct, de-construct, scratch, and re-construct the collage and paints, covered and lifted it again. Just like those who had tears and scars may have accumulated more layers of life experience hold beauty inside. I created this piece as the pandemic hit in 2020. I was not able to obtain my paint materials such as encaustic from the U.S. during the quarantine and the shipment was stopped. Therefore, I used existing materials in my studio, which allowed me to discover more of acrylics. Creating encaustic mixed media art is extremely intense to me. I am very much in “hard working mode.” Not much fun with all the concepts and structures. Maybe because I know the materials well. However, creating acrylic mixed media has brought rest and relaxation. You sometimes really need rest. Then, your joy and energy returns.
